Public installation

York University: Micro-Lectures on Microplastics.

A public art installation that puts Dr. Shooka Karimpour's microplastics research in front of people walking past. Lumen Narrative was technical producer and location manager, providing the facilities, equipment and lighting the production ran on.

The medium argues the point.

A lecture is the wrong format for a person walking past. The research had to stop someone in a public space and hold them there.

01

The problem

Dr. Shooka Karimpour's research on microplastics needed to reach the public, not only a journal. A lecture is the wrong format for a person walking past. The task was to make a piece of environmental science stop someone in a public space and hold them there.

02

What we made

A two part public art installation. Two plinths, each holding a small scale replica of a real York University classroom filled with 300 three dimensionally printed students and their professor. The projection screen inside the miniature is a working display that plays Dr. Karimpour's full length presentation. The base is built from plastic collected from the beach and diverted from landfill. Lumen was technical producer and location manager. We provided the facilities, the camera and lighting equipment and the production gear, and ran the technical side of the shoot, so the director had a working set and controlled light from the first setup.

03

Why it works

The medium argues the point. The audience looks at the waste while listening to the research about the waste, and the full lecture remains available to anyone who wants all of it. Research communication does not have to mean a video on a website. A piece like this only lands if every technical part is in place when it matters, and that part was ours.

Cinematic platform film

GNQ Insilico

Bio Avatar · Flagship brand films
The problem
A digital twin of an individual patient's biology, running on multi omics data, causal AI and quantum simulation. Category defining, and almost impossible to explain in a meeting.
What we made
A fully in house cinematic brand film with a custom CGI look grounded in the real science, style frames approved before animation, and motion built on GNQ's own brand system.
Why it works
It can be shown to a molecular biologist and a generalist investor without changing a frame.

HLTH

Hydrogen machine · Launch and release videos
The problem
A therapeutic grade hydrogen machine in a market crowded with lookalike devices. Everything that makes it different is technical, and none of it is visible in a photograph.
What we made
The entire marketing package: hero visuals and the product film, direct response advertising and masterclass creative, and every cutdown the channels required.
Why it works
The technical argument is carried visually, so the claim is demonstrated rather than asserted.

Complexity, made clear.
