Pharmaceutical

Film production for pharmaceutical companies.

Launch films, mechanism of action animation, KOL and medical affairs films for pharmaceutical and biopharma teams. Scripted so the science is right, and approved at every gate before production begins.

Lumen Narrative is a Toronto film production company for pharmaceutical and biopharma teams. We make launch films, mechanism of action animation, and KOL and medical affairs films, scripted so the science is right and approved at every gate before production begins.

Pharmaceutical video production succeeds or fails in review, so we build the production around it. Scripts are reference annotated, approval gates sit at outline, script, style frames and cut, and discovery, filming, 3D, motion, sound and finishing all happen under one roof.

From the launch team to medical affairs.

Each team answers to a different audience and a different reviewer. The film has to work for both.

01

Brand and launch teams

The launch film and every cut behind it, from the national sales meeting to the congress booth.

02

Medical affairs

Disease state and mechanism films with the scientific depth an HCP audience expects.

03

Market access and HEOR

Health economics and value evidence built into a film a payer or formulary committee can follow.

04

KOL and advisory board programs

Experts filmed in one controlled block, then cut into education, congress and internal pieces.

05

Patient support and education

Plain language films that help patients understand a condition and a treatment, scripted for review.

06

Investor relations and partnering

Pipeline and platform films for financing, partnering and the annual meeting.

In pharma, the review is the production.

A pharmaceutical film is only finished when it clears review. These four constraints shape every production we plan.

i.

Review is built in

Fixed approval gates for outline, script, style frames and cuts, set up to match how medical, legal and regulatory review already runs. Every note is left on the frame in Frame.io and tracked until it is closed.

ii.

The film says only what the data supports

Fair balance and claims discipline start in the script. Every line is annotated with its reference, so reviewers check claims against sources rather than memory.

iii.

HCP time is scarce

Physicians and KOLs give an hour, not a day. We plan one controlled shoot block, the way the OCFP films captured several physicians in a single session.

iv.

One master, many markets

Congress loops, rep cuts, web and social versions are all cut from one approved master, so the science and the look never drift between channels.

Abstract cellular visualization

Animate the mechanism exactly as it works.

Mechanism of action, disease state and product visualization, built in 3D from your own data and publications. Style frames are approved before a single shot is animated, so the biology on screen is the biology your reviewers signed off.

  • Mechanism of action and pathway animation
  • Trial data as motion graphics on your own brand system
  • LED wall virtual production: your experts standing inside the mechanism
  • No stock footage, no generic AI generated video

Physicians on camera. Biology made clear.

We have no named pharmaceutical case study yet. These two films show the two skills a pharma film depends on.

Campaign content

Ontario College of Family Physicians

Physician films · KOL and leadership films
The problem
For World Family Doctor Day the College needed real physicians on camera, while asking as little time as possible of doctors who have none to spare.
What we made
A multi camera interview production that captured several physicians in one controlled block, cut into the main campaign films, physician highlight pieces and short social cuts, with full transcripts.
How it applies
KOL and HCP films face the same limit. Each physician gave an hour, and one controlled production yielded an entire campaign.
Cinematic platform film

GNQ Insilico

Bio Avatar · AI and computational biology
The problem
A digital twin of an individual patient's biology, running on multi omics data, causal AI and quantum simulation. Category defining, and almost impossible to explain in a meeting.
What we made
A fully in house cinematic brand film with a custom CGI look grounded in the real science, style frames approved before animation, and motion built on GNQ's own brand system.
How it applies
Mechanism films need the same order of work: the science locked before the look, so one film holds up in front of experts and newcomers alike.

Signed off at every gate, before it costs you.

Six stages, with approval points placed where your review process already expects them.

01

Discovery

Publications, data and time with your medical team. The facts are right before a word is written.

02

Annotated script

Outline, then a reference annotated script, then your review. Nothing is filmed or animated before sign off.

03

Style frames

The mechanism is designed in 3D and approved before animation begins.

04

Production

One controlled shoot block for physicians and KOLs, planned around their clinics and travel.

05

Review on the timeline

Rounds agreed up front. Notes land on the frame in Frame.io and are tracked to close.

06

Delivery and every cut

Master, congress, rep, web and social versions. Captions, transcripts and source files included.

Pharmaceutical video production, answered.

How do you handle medical, legal and regulatory review?
We build the production around it. Approval gates sit at outline, script, style frames and each cut, and review rounds are agreed before work starts. Scripts are reference annotated, and every note is left on the film in Frame.io and tracked until it is closed. We work inside your review process rather than replacing it.
Can you animate a mechanism of action accurately?
Yes. We start from your publications and your medical team, not from a template. The mechanism is built in 3D from the real science, style frames are approved before animation begins, and nothing is decorated on top of the biology. No stock footage and no generic AI generated video.
Do you film physicians and KOLs?
Yes. We plan a single controlled shoot block with multi camera interviews, professional lighting, broadcast audio and teleprompter support where needed. For the Ontario College of Family Physicians, each physician gave an hour, and the College received a hero film, highlight pieces and a month of social content.
Can one shoot supply congress, sales and social?
Yes. We plan every version before the shoot, then cut the congress loop, rep and sales versions, and web and social pieces from the same approved master, in every aspect ratio, with captions and transcripts included.
Do you work with agencies of record?
Yes. Lumen can produce for your agency of record or directly for your brand or medical team. Either way, one point of contact runs the production from the first call to delivery, and review follows the approval route you already use.
Where is Lumen Narrative based?
Toronto, Ontario. We are a pharmaceutical video production partner for teams across Canada and the United States, and also work with life sciences, healthcare, academic and technology organizations.

Tell us the audience, the review route and the launch date. A deck, the key publications or a fifteen minute call is usually enough to scope it.
